North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Thursday passed a resolution withdrawing the hike in property tax rates as per the Municipal Valuation Committee (MVC) report.

The resolution for withdrawing the property tax rates, that were earlier approved by a standing committee and the civic body, was brought by BJP councillors Rajesh Bhatia and Shobha Vijender.

The BJP-dominated civic body passed the resolution which also provides for adjusting the excess tax amount paid by property holders in the municipal corporation areas.

The rate of property tax based on MVC recommendation was hiked many times after February 15.

The resolution cancelled the changes in the rates and rebate in property tax, passed earlier by the NDMC and its standing committee, that have been included in the Schedule of Taxes for 2016-17.

The excess tax amount deposited by property holders as per the Schedule of Taxes, 2016-17, will be adjusted against their tax amount for the year 2017-18, it said.
