Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has stressed on the need for progressively enlarging specialised Medicare centres within the state for enabling timely and effective management of various diseases.
"There is a need for progressively enlarging specialised Medicare centres within the state for enabling timely and effective management of various diseases, particularly orthopaedic problems so that our people do not have to travel long distances for receiving the required treatment," Vohra said here yesterday.
The Governor was speaking at the inaugural function of the 32nd North Zone Annual Conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association organised by the Department of Orthopaedics, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Medical College, Bemina, at SKICC, here.
The Governor expressed hope that all the required medical care and surgical interventions would become available within the state in the next few years and no one will have to undergo the cost and inconvenience of travelling to receive treatment in hospitals outside the state.
Vohra called upon the members of the medical fraternity to secure maximum benefit from the rapidly advancing frontiers of scientific knowledge and technology for achieving cost effective management of various ailments.
Referring to the workshop organised as part of the conference on Shoulder Arthroscopy at SKIMS, the Governor said such demonstrations would help the young orthopaedic surgeons of the state to learn the techniques from the eminent experts in this area.
