Negligence by doctors alleged in providig proper treatment

The alleged negligence by the doctors at the Government Hospital here while providing plaster of paris cast for a fracture suffered by an 25-year-old autorickshaw driver in his leg led to infection and worsening his condition.
According to officials of the hospital, Muniaswamy, a diabetic, was admitted to the hospital on August 19, after he suffered fracture in his leg in an accident near Meyyampuli.
The doctors who examined him found he had suffered fracture and provided him plaster of paris cast without removing the plastic splinter that got stuck between the muscle and the bone.
Though Muniswamy who felt that some splinter got stuck and informed the doctors about it about the extreme pain he was suffering the doctors ignored it for more than two weeks. As the pain persisted, they examined and found a plastic splinter.

The colleagues of autorickshaw driver complained to the doctors and demanded proper examination.
Superintendent of the hospital Krishnamurthy said that the driver had suffered fracture. As he was a diabetic, he did not under go surgery for the fracture.

The x-ray did not reveal any foreign body stuck between the broken bones and flesh as it was made of plastic, he said.
The doctors had removed the Plastic splinter now.
Krishnamurthy said there was no need to worry about his condition.
A show cause notice would be issued to the doctor for his negligence and action would be taken after getting his explanation, he said.
