Newborn, mother die on way to hospital from health centre

A woman and her newborn boy died at Singhpur in the district today after the delivery at a Community Health Centre (CHC), with the family members alleging laxity by the centre, a charge denied by the authorities concerned.
Ragini (30) gave birth at the Community Health Centre and the delivery was done by a nurse in absence of a doctor. Following this, when her condition deteriorated, she was referred to a hospital, her family members claimed.
The baby and his mother died on way to the hospital, they claimed.
After this people gathered at the premises of the CHC and demanded action against the nurse. On getting the information, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control, a police officer said, adding they are looking into the matter.

In-charge of the CHC denied any laxity by the staff in discharging duty.
