Pro-tem Speaker Harbans Kapoor administered the oath of office to 69 of a total of 70 MLAs in a swearing-in ceremony held in the state assembly.
All 57 members of the BJP including Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and his council of ministers took oath, besides 10 legislators of the Congress and two Independents.
Congress veteran and MLA from Haldwani, Indira Hridayesh, who could not for some reason turn up for the swearing-in today, will take oath as a member later on.
With the MLAs sworn-in today, they will now elect a Speaker which will be followed by the first session of the new assembly from March 24.
