Doc faces arrest for failing to pay Rs 1.12L fine

A consumer forum here has issued an arrest warrant against a doctor for failing to pay a compensation of Rs 1.12 lakh to a woman, who gave birth despite undergoing a sterilisation operation.
Judge S K S Yadav, in an order yesterday, said the court had directed Dr Manju Aggarwal to pay a fine of Rs 1.12 lakh to the victim by August 14, 2016.
However, she failed to pay the amount, the judge said.
The victim had filed a complaint in the consumer forum in 2014 and alleged that despite the operation she gave birth. She had also claimed compensation, he said.

The forum had heard the victim's petition and directed the doctor to compensate her within a month, the judge said.
The doctor was unavailable for comments.
