NIA wraps up arguments on charge in case against IM co-founder

The National Investigation Agency today told a special court that there was enough evidence against 12 suspected terror operatives, including Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal, to prosecute them in an alleged case of conspiracy to wage war against the country.
While concluding its argument on framing of charges, the NIA submitted before District Judge Amar Nath in an in-chamber proceeding that the accused persons should be put on trial in the case.
According to the sources, the court closed the prosecution evidence against the accused persons -- including Bhatkal and his close aide Asadullah Akhtar, Mohammad Danish Ansari, Mohammad Aftab Alam, Imran Khan, Syed Maqbool, Obaid-Ur- Rehman and others -- after the investigating agency completed its detailed arguments on the framing of charge.

The accused persons were booked under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and IPC for conspiracy to commit offences against the state.
