Nifty rallies by 155 pts after announcement of Union Budget

The NSE Nifty rose by 155 points to finish at 8,716.40 on fresh buying from investors and operators after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the Union Budget, which focused on giving a boost to rural economy, digitisation and infrastructure.
The Nifty opened higher at 8,570.35 and hovered in a range of 8,722.40 and 8,537.50 before closing at more than four-month closing high at 8,716.40, a gain of 155.10 points or 1.81 per cent.
Shares of realty, PSU Bank, auto, FMCG, finance service, private bank, bank and media sectors gained traction on good buying support.
The Nifty had ended at 8,743.95 on October 5, 2016.
Major gainers were Bosch Ltd (5.28 per cent), M&M (5.02 per cent), Maruti (4.83 per cent), Bank of Baroda (4.78 per cent) and Hindalco (4.69 per cent).
However, losers were TCS (2.78 per cent), IDEA (2.45 per cent), Auto Pharma (2.03 per cent), Infosys (1.28 per cent) and ONGC (1.16 per cent).
A total of 1,177 scrips advanced, 446 declined, while 81 remained unchanged. Total securities that hit their price bands were 108.
Turnover in the cash segment declined to 27,786.65 crore from Rs 27,936.57 crore yesterday.
A total of 16,093.98 lakh shares changed hands in 99,300,25 trades. The market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 11,219,114 crore.
