Nine teams have been constituted by the Superintendent of Police (city), to probe a robbery at a branch of Muthoot Finance company here.
Three teams of Sihani Gate police station, five teams of Crime Branch and one team of Special Operations Group (SOG) have been tasked to work out the case, Superintendent of Police (city) Shiv Hari Meena said here today.
All the robbers will be nabbed soon, Meena added.
Yesterday afternoon, three unidentified armed robbers looted cash and jewellery worth over Rs 30 lakh from a branch of Muthoot Finance company at Rakesh Marg branch under Sihani Gate police station here.
The police said that three robbers armed with pistols reached the company office and enquired about the process for getting loan by pledging gold as guarantee.
When the cashier Abid Hussain was weighing their gold, they trained their pistols at him and asked him to surrender all the cash and gold.
When he resisted they hit the cashier at his head by the pistol butt and threatened to shoot the other staff. When another employee Narendra Kumar came to Abid's help, he too was assaulted.
Taking the entire staff hostage the robbers decamped with all the gold and other jewellery and cash from the company chest, Meena said.
No CCTV camera was installed in the premises, Meena said, adding that no armed security guard was on duty and the manager had gone for training.
