"The chief minister also acted on the lines of his predecessors Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi to protect the Hindu majority in the Mahabodhi temple management despite protests by the Buddhists for giving them its control," Raj said.

Raj alleged that the development and expansion plans of the Mahabodhi temple had suffered as the majority Hindu members of the management committee did not take interest.

He urged the state government to amend the legislation enacted in 1949 to grant majority membership to the Buddhists in the Mahabodhi temple management so that they could carry out its development and expansion plans with aid and investment from the Buddhist countries.

The IJP President threatened to launch a nationwide agitation if the Buddhists did not get control of the Mahabodhi temple management committee.
