The BJP today launched an attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar accusing him of targeting the NDA government at the Centre to hide the JD(U) government's "failures" to deliver after its split with the saffron party 21 months ago.
"Though the NDA government extended all support to Bihar for development, Kumar has been deliberately targeting the Centre to hide failures of the JD(U) government post its split with us," senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said in a statement.
By mounting a persistent onslaught on the Centre since taking over reins of Bihar last week, the Chief Minister has displayed his arrogance and indulged in negative politics by refusing to acknowledge the Centre's commitment towards development of the state, the former deputy chief minister said.
He slammed the JD(U) government for failing to procure 30 lakh metric tonne paddy during kharif season as well as to deliver electricity to all villages before the Assembly polls scheduled later this year.
Modi also took a dig at Kumar for apologising to the people for quitting as Chief Minister after JD(U)'s debacle in the general elections last year.
Mere apology and keeping silence on the state government's poor track record on development front will not help Kumar at the hustings, the BJP leader said, adding, people had given a mandate to the government under Kumar's leadership in 2010 Assembly polls.
