The Chief Labour Commissioner has convened the third round of tri-partite talks between unions representing striking employees of state-run Neyveli Lignite Corporation and the management in New Delhi tomorrow.
As two rounds of talks held by the Central Labour Commissioner in Chennai on July 22 and July 27 had failed, the Joint Secretary, Labour Department, has directed holding of the tri-partite talks in New Delhi, NLC PRO S Sridhar told PTI today.
Around 13,000 regular employees of NLC are on strike since July 20 demanding wage revision.
Sridhar said the strike had not affected lignite excavation and generation at the three thermal power plants run by NLC.
About 6,000 engineers and officers and about 10,000 contract workers and section of regular employees are not participating the strike, he added.
The unions are demanding 24 per cent increase in the wages while NLC has come forward to give only 10 per cent.
