Aviation regulator DGCA has not come across a single instance of submission of fake documents for obtaining pilot's licence in the last three years, Government said today.
However, 19 cases of fudging of flyers hours for obtaining a trainee pilot's licence during 2010-11 are being probed by the anti-corruption bureau of Rajasthan, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma told Lok Sabha.
In addition 17 more cases were found in 2011 where pilots had obtained licences on the basis of fake Central Examination Organisation marks sheet, the Minister said.
"No case related to submitting fake documents for issue of pilot's licence has been brought to the notice during the last three years and current year.
"However, 19 cases related to submitting fake documents for obtaining licence for trainee pilot by Chief Flying Instruction of Rajasthan State Flying School, Jaipur were found in 2010-11," he said.
Licences of these 19 pilots have been suspended, Sharma said adding, however, suspension of licences of five pilots were revoked later on after the ACB cleared them of charges.
Of the 17 cases, related to the fake marks sheet, licences of 15 pilots were suspended while in the remaining two cases, the licences were not issued and the trainee pilots were debarred from obtaining Indian licences, the Minister said.
These cases have also been handed over to the ACB, Rajasthan, Sharma added.
He said cross verification of the authenticity of the results, verification of the licences, issued by the foreign regulators before converting them into Indian licences, from the regulatory authorities concerned are some of the measures taken by the DGCA to avoid such cases.
Besides skill test is also conducted on the aircraft required to be endorsed in India in addition to the flying test done abroad.
