The Airport metro service has not failed in terms of usage or services but there is a shortfall in revenue collection mainly from property development and retail which was to be planned by DAMEPL as concessionaire of this line, Minister of State for Urban Development Deepa Dasmunshi said in a written reply to a question.
'The Airport Metro Express line has not failed in terms of usage and services, rather public and commuters have appreciated its services,' she said.
'However, it is agreed that there is a shortfall in revenue collection, mainly from sources of property development and retail income, which was to be planned by DAMEPL as concessionaire of this line,' she added.
In response to another question, Dasmunshi said Uttar Pradesh government had conveyed its in-principle approval for extension of Delhi Metro from Noida City Centre to sector 62.
Answering another question, Dasmunshi said DMRC had formed a committee of three members to probe an incident where a train was stuck between Udyog Bhawan and Central secretariat stations for 90 minutes.
She said that as per the inquiry report, electro pneumatic coupler between unit number four and trailing units of the train developed electrical discontinuity, on account of which there was a communication failure between them, leading to stalling of the train.
The automatic coupler have been converted to manual as an interim measure to avoid such recurrence, Dasmunshi added.
