'No disruption in flight services to Jammu, Srinagar'

Maintaining that there was no disruption in its flight services to Jammu and Srinagar so far, budget carrier IndiGo today said it is keeping a close watch on the flood-hit region.

"We are in touch with our local teams for early indications of possible disruptions in flight operations. As of now our operations to Jammu and Srinagar is continuing as per schedule," Indigo, which operates daily flight services to Jammu and Srinagar, said in a statement to PTI today.

Several areas of the Valley and parts of Jammu were in deluge caused by rains due to which seven people have died and fate of 13 others was unknown.

Due to heavy rains over the past 36 hours, river Jhelum was flowing above the danger mark at several places including Sangam in Anantnag district and Ram Munshi Bagh in the city.

Flood water entered several low-lying areas of Kashmir, including capital Srinagar.

"We are monitoring the local media / Government notifications for the information on the development of flood situation and will take proactive actions," Indigo said.

Besides IndiGo, other carriers -- Air India, Jet Airways, GoAir and SpiceJet -- also fly to Srinagar from various destinations including Delhi and Mumbai.

When contacted, both Jet Airways and GoAir said their operations were going on without any disruption so far.

During the last year's floods, which caused massive destruction in the Valley, all domestic airlines had come to help of the state government in relief and rescue operations in a big way.
