All flights to and fro Srinagar international airport were cancelled for the third day running today due to foggy weather, leaving hundreds of passengers including tourists stranded.
However, Meteorological department has predicted some respite from tomorrow.
"Flight operations at the airport could not resume today as well. All the flights to and fro Srinagar were cancelled," officials at the airport said.
They said air traffic was disrupted as foggy conditions continued in the Valley for the third consecutive day.
"No flight could either land or take off from the airport. All passengers were informed about the cancellation of flights accordingly," the officials said.
They said the air traffic would resume tomorrow if the conditions permit.
"We have to see. If the weather improves, then only can the clearance be given by the Air Traffic Control Centre. We can only tell tomorrow," they said.
Many passengers, including tourists, have been left stranded due to the disruption in the air traffic.
All flights to and fro the airport had to be cancelled on Monday due to poor visibility as a thick layer of fog engulfed the valley.
The flights were cancelled yesterday as well.
The Meteorological Department here said there are chances of respite from foggy conditions in the Valley from tomorrow.
"There are chances that the visibility will improve. There will be improvement in the weather as far as fog is concerned and people will get some respite," Director MET Department, here, Sonam Lotus told PTI.
Lotus said there is possibility of rains in plains of the Valley and snow in the higher reaches over the next 24 hours.
The minimum temperature recorded in the summer capital Srinagar was 4.1 degrees Celsius - three degrees more than yesterday.
Gulmarg ski-resort in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.3 degrees Celsius-- the only place in the Valley where mercury stayed below the freezing point.
