No possibility of missing any climber on Mt Everest: Expert

There are enough safety measures taken along the expedition route to Mount Everest that there is no possibility that a climber can go missing on the world's highest peak in Nepal, an expert today said.
Ang Tshering Sherpa, Nepal Mountaineering Association chief whose organization helps the government in managing expeditions, said that there was no chance of any climber going missing while scaling the Everest.
Ropes have been fixed on the Everest from the base camp to the peak and each and every climber is tied to the rope, so as to prevent any untoward incident, he said.
"Therefore, it was not possible for climbers to go missing unless he or she does some mischievous work," he told PTI.

On other mountains, it was possible that the climbers might go missing as there is no such arrangement, he said.
Two Indian climbers have gone missing on the 8,849-metre peak since Saturday, and a search has been underway to locate them.

"There was no incident of avalanche in the area at that time, so in normal condition, there is no possibility of missing any climber," Sherpa said.
There was a rare possibility of finding the Indian climbers alive after three-four days, he said.
Five people have died so far during this Himalayan climbing season, which saw about 400 mountaineers summit the world's highest peak, officials have said.
