Will have majority of our own in Maharashtra, Haryana: Naidu

He added that people were fed up with the Congress govt and dynasty rule

Ruling out any truck with NCP in Maharashtra after the polls, BJP today said the party will form a government on its own in the state.

"In both Maharashtra and Haryana we will have majority of our own and form government. People are fed up with Congress government and dynasty rule," Parliament Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said here.

Asked whether BJP would have an alliance with Shiv Sena if the party falls short of majority in Maharashtra after elections, Naidu said, "Shiv Sena is working with us at the Centre."

He, however, firmly ruled out any alliance with NCP in Maharashtra. "There is no question of aligning with NCP as we are going to have majority of our own. No truck with any party and we are sure of forming of our own government."

Taking on the Sharad Pawar-led party, Naidu said, "NCP will get a severe beating in the elections. Any party joining with Congress will get the same treat from the people."

Naidu also disapproved of Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray's 'Afzal Khan' comment on the BJP government at the Centre and asked the Maharashtra-based party to concentrate on fighting the common enemy, the Congress.

Uddhav Thackeray had on Monday equated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his central ministers with the army of Bijapur general Afzal Khan and asked voters to ensure the defeat of the BJP.

"Shiv Sena should not have said so. Our main enemy is Congress," he said.

On Shiv Sena allegations that BJP broke the alliance with it, he said, "It is not true. We never broke alliance with Shiv Sena or any other party. In Assembly and Lok Sabha we had more seats than Shiv Sena. Still we were ready to accept less number of seats in Maharashtra than Shiv Sena."

However, he said, "We have all respect for Bal Thackeray and will continue to do so."

On Prime Minister's extensive poll campaign, he said, "Some are saying why PM is campaigning in state elections. PM is national leader of the party so why you are afraid of it? Shiv Sena and other parties are afraid of PM election campaign."

He said, "Unlike the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who was behaving like a 'mauni baba' and not going anywhere, this prime minister is in very much demand."

"Government at Centre and state must work together and for this we need a friendly party at the state. Otherwise the central programmes will not be implemented in an effective manner," he said.

"Majority in both states will help us increase our numbers in Rajya Sabha as well and it will be easier to execute the Centre's development policy in states," he said.

In Haryana also Naidu said the BJP will have majority of its own.

Seeking resignation of the Haryana Chief Minister after the Punjab and Haryana High Court order disqualified six HJC MLAs who had defected to Congress, Naidu said though only five day are left for elections, Hooda should resign on moral grounds as he has no moral right to continue even for a day.

Punjab and Haryana High Court had yesterday disqualified five sitting legislators, including two ministers, from the outgoing state Assembly under the anti-defection law.
