The decision was taken at a state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
"The CEOs of the Noida and Greater Noida authorities have been authorised by the Cabinet to explore possibilities of implementation of Metro system to ease traffic," Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan told reporters.
"The Cabinet also cleared Rs 1,880 crore project to connect Noida Sector 32 to Sector 62 through metro," he said.
The Cabinet also gave right to state ministers for clearing projects upto Rs 5 crores from existing Rs 1 crore, Ranjan said.
Files of above Rs 5 crore projects would be sent to the state Finance minister and above Rs 15 crores to the Chief Minister for clearance.
The Chief Secretary also said that work on Lucknow-Agra expressway will start within one-and-a-half month and it would be completed in 30 months with a cost of Rs 11,526 crores.
