"The law and order situation across Kashmir is peaceful. No untoward incident was reported from anywhere," a policeman said.
He said the situation is being monitored and police will take a call on revoking or extending the ban on internet services in the evening.
People today visited their relatives to exchange greetings and distribute sacrificial meat. However, markets remained closed in view of the festival.
Though only a skeletal public transport was plying, traffic jams were reported from various routes including Srinagar Airport road.
Eid being a public holiday, only a small number of traffic policemen was present on the roads.
Yesterday, clashes were reported from Eidgah, Rajouri Kadal and some other areas of old Srinagar city and a few places in Anantnag district.
However, in rest of the Valley, the festival was celebrated peacefully against the backdrop of a raging controversy over recent High Court order for implementation of an old law that bans slaughter and sale of beef.
Fearing communal tension, police asked the internet service providers to snap all data services, including BSNL's Broadband, till 10 pm tonight.
