A Norwegian man left a luxury boat, valued at about USD 108,000, floating for two years in a Swedish harbour after he forgot that he still owned it.
The boat, which had been imported from the US almost a decade ago, had been floating for two years near the police headquarters of Stromstad, north of Gothenburg and close to the Norwegian border.
When police uploaded pictures of the mystery boat on Facebook earlier this week, the story was picked up by Norwegian media, a move that caught the attention of the boat's owner.
"He was very surprised. He had thought that the boat had been sold," Tomas Andersson of the Gothenburg police told the Expressen newspaper.
"I guess this shows that people have different expectations when it comes to economics. This isn't an ordinary boat either, it's a incredibly nice one," Andersson added.
According to 'The Local', the boat's estimated value is USD 108,000.
The Norwegian, who owns several companies, had apparently "forgotten" that he had not sold the boat. He has now been asked to pay two years' rent for leaving the boat at the harbour.
"A happy ending, if not rather strange," the police wrote on their Facebook page.
