Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh, replying to a question, said the PEA was signed on April 10 this year.
"The PEA will help bring clarity on the technical aspects of the plant, help make a detailed safety assessment and take up the licensing process with Atomic Regulatory Board," he said.
An MoU was also signed between L&T and Areva with the aim of increasing localisation in conformation with the 'Make in India' campaign, he added.
To a question, the minister said that India has not signed any agreement with France on the Jaitapur nuclear project.
