Concerned over the increasing incidents of vehicle theft in the state, Nagaland Police today launched SMS based Vehicle Monitoring System (NPSVMS).
The NPSVMS provides a facility for the public to quickly inform the department of theft of vehicle via SMS to public hotline number 8415900400, said IGP (Range) Wabang Jamire.
He appealed to vehicle owners to get their vehicles and mobile cell phone numbers registered at the nearest police station.
A registered owner of the vehicle can SMS the keyword 'LOST' on hotline number and the details of the lost vehicle will be instantly sent to all police check-gates in the state, he said.
The system was formally launched by the state home minister.
