Maharashtra government today announced that the state-run nursing training school in neighbouring Thane will be named after Aruna Shanbaug, the KEM staff nurse who passed away yesterday.
"Maharashtra government decides to give the late Aruna Shanbaug's name to nursing training school, Thane. Our infinite salutes to her spirit!" Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted.
Shanbaug, who was in a vegetative state for 42 years following a brutal sexual assault by a ward boy in 1973, passed away at King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital here yesterday.
