Cochin Port Trust felicitated the crew and officers of 'MV Kavaratti' and 'MV Corals' at a function held here who evacuated distressed persons from India, Bangladesh and Yemen.
The Port Trust chairman Paul Antony, while presenting commendation certificates to the masters of the vessels, pointed out that the effort deserves special mention considering that the vessels which were normally on coastal voyage willingly undertook a perilous mission in to the piracy infested and war-torn area of the Gulf of Aden at a short notice, displaying a high degree of professionalism and courage on the part of the Master and crew of the vessel.
The function was also attended by (Cochin Port Trust) Capt Paul N Joseph, Dy Conservator C Unnikrishnan Nair, Traffic Manager K G Nath and other senior officers of the Port Trust and Lakshadweep administration.
