A senior official working with Directorate of School Education here has been booked for cheating after he allegedly refused to keep his "promise" of marrying a woman who earlier worked as a teacher, police said today.
The woman, in her complaint lodged with Tirmulgherry police station, said the official, Gopal Reddy, was in a relationship with her since 2007. Though both had their own families, he "promised" to marry her, but later reneged on the assurance, a police officer said.
Following the complaint, a case of cheating and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of IPC was filed against Reddy, he said, adding further probe is on.
