In an unusual incident, taxi aggregator Ola charged a city passenger a whopping bill of Rs 149 crore for a local trip that never happened on April 1, and it was not a joke on All Fools' Day.

A city resident Sushil Narsian had booked an Ola cab to travel from his home in suburban Mulund West to a nearby location less than 300 meters away when he was handed out a bill of Rs 1,49,10,51,648.

Though the taxi driver cancelled the ride, due to a technical glitch, Narsian was unable to book another cab and was slapped with a bill of Rs 149 crore, according to his statement on social media platform, Twitter.

"For a ride that didn't come to the location, the specified driver did not open the door, and still I'm charged and how! Jai Ho @olacabs. Riding Uber now," Narsian tweeted after the harrowing experience on April 1, and posted a screenshot of his Ola electronic bill.

The bill indicated that Narsian had paid Rs 127 through the e-wallet, OlaMoney while he owed the taxi company Rs 149.10 crore, according to the screenshot he posted.

In response, Ola support team tweeted back to Narsian, "This is definitely not the experience we'd like you to have. Please DM (direct message) the booking ID and we'll look into this immediately."

Earlier on Wednesday, Ola settled the issue and tweeted a special code to Narsian offering him a free ride.

"Here's a special code, Just for you, 1491051648," Ola tweeted, with the same code as the incorrect bill generated.

Last September, the taxi aggregator generated a bill of Rs 83,395 to Ghatkopar-based businessman Kamal Bhatia for travelling from Mumbai to Pune, and back. Ola had apologised and blamed it on the server, and waived the entire bill.
