Rajnish Kumar alias Preet, the organiser of the proposed camp on the death anniversary of sharp-shhoted and dreaded gangster Sukhbir Singh alias Sukha Kahlwan, has been arrested, Phagwara DSP Manpreet Singh Dhillon said.
Those booked include Sukha's's supporters - Gagan Bajwa, Amarbeer Cheema, settled in the UK and Canada respectively - and gangster Daljit Bhana, Phagwara DSP Manpreet Singh Dhillon said.
The two NRIs funded the camp and other related activities, police alleged saying Preet had received Rs 30,000 from Cheema for the camp.
A public invite from Sukha's FB page was posted on December 12 for "big" blood donation camp for the "welfare of humanity" in his memory, Dhillon said.
Sukha's FB page has 16,236 followers and Preet, who was in mobile repair business, was allegedly paid for updating it, police said adding they had been looking for the administrator of the page as well.
Preet had also ordered printing of posters to display them at different places to advertise about Sukha - and the camp, police said.
They have been booked under Section 66 (hacking with computer system) of the IT Act and Sections 384 (punishment for extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120-B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of IPC, police said.
Sukha was shot dead allegedly by a rival gang on the outskirts of Phagwara on NH-1 on January 21, 2015 when he was being escorted by six security personnel to high-security Nabha jail after his appearance in a Jalandhar court.
Dhillon said Preet admitted they hatched a conspiracy to hold such camps and other activities in Phagwara, Sukha's native village, and Jalandhar to keep his memories alive.
DSP declared no such camp will be allowed to take place.
