Arun Behera (35), who runs a shop in the market, is now undergoing treatment at SCB medical college and hospital with bullet injuries in his abdomen.
The accused Satya Mohanty, who has also sustained injuries on his neck during a scuffle with Behera, is also under treatment in the same hospital under police custody.
According to Cuttack DCP Sanjiv Arora, Behera and Mohanty had previous rivalries over a property dispute and they are litigants of a civil case pending disposal in court.
