A little over one kg of crude gold worth Rs 34 lakh was today seized from two passengers who arrived here by a Sri Lankan Airlines flight, personnel of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence said.
Mohammed Aleef of Malappuram in Kerala and Ansari of Chennai were stopped based on a tip-off and their baggage was checked, and it yielded an electric iron and TVs, they said.
After a thorough search, 20 rectangular pieces of gold of 24 carats and weighing over 1,000 gm of 24 carat were found, they said.
The duo was detained for interrogation, they added.
