Mohammad Gayasuddin, the father of main accused Mohammad Samiullah, was today arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a girl in Bihar's East Champaran (Motihari) district, police said.
With today's arrest all the five accused in the case have been arrested, Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana said.
Gayasuddin was arrested from a place under Banjaria police station area, he said.
The 21-year-old girl, in her complaint, had alleged that her neighbour Samiullah had raped her on June 13 at Jamui Tola village here, following which a complaint was lodged on June 15 in this regard at Ramgarhwa police station.
Samiullah, the main accused in the case, was arrested from Chhitauni bus stand of Motihari town on June 24, while his three brothers -- Mohammad Jabiullah, Mohammad Kalimullah and Mohammad Nusrullah -- were arrested from Jhakia village under Banjaria police station yesterday.
On the basis of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP)'s report, two policemen Subodh Kumar, Sub-Inspector and Officer-in-charge of Ramgarhwa police station and Vijay Singh, ASI and Investigating Officer (IO) of the case - have been suspended with immediate effect for alleged dereliction of duty and failure to arrest the culprits named in the case.
Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Upendra Kushwaha yesterday met the family members of the victim and enquired about the condition of the girl who is admitted at Motihari Sadar Hospital.
Both the ministers demanded speedy trial and stern action against the accused in the alleged rape case.
National Commission for Women (NCW) member Sushma Sahu had also visited the Sadar hospital yesterday to meet the alleged rape survivor.
Sahu, who expressed displeasure over hospital's role, sought the earlier medical report of the victim from the Civil Surgeon besides seeking 10 years of medical reports of rape incidents in East Champaran (Motihari) district.
