One person dies due to cold in UP

One person died allegedly due to cold weather conditions in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh even as dense fog blanketed most places in the state, with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav issuing directions for distribution of blankets and lighting of bonfires.
The unidentified person, aged about 45 years, was found dead at a platform of Barabanki railway station under a seat.
Police said he was dressed in very few clothes due to which it appeared that he died due to the cold.
Taking note of the severe weather condition, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today directed officials to ensure bonfire at public places and distribution of blankets in districts.
The CM said there is no scarcity of funds for the purpose and warned officials not to be lax in relief work.
According to the Met department, dense fog occured at most places hitting normal life in Uttar Pradesh.
Night temperatures fell appreciably in Agra division, fell in Allahabad division and changed little elsewhere in the state.
The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded in Meerut at 6.4 degree celsius.
The Met department has forecast dry weather and moderate fog at most places.
