Online license portal launched for traders

Delhi government today launched an online portal for dealers, manufacturers, packers and importers for grant and renewal of various licenses, doing away with the need for them to apply manually.
Food and Supplies & Legal Metrology (LM) Minister Imran Hussain launched the portal of the Weights & Measures Department and said that that no application will be received by the department manually in future.
In a statement, the government said that the facility of online applications and grant and renewal of various licences will bring transparency and efficiency in the system, terming it as a step towards ease of doing business.

"The system will enable applicants to apply for new registration or for any work relating to their business by logging into the existing website of the Department at any time.
"They would be able to know the status of their application online as well as through SMS alerts. The licence would be provided online through Digital Signatures which will reduce malpractices," the statement said.
