Amid the opposition's attempts to put up a consensus candidate for the presidential polls, JD-U leader Sharad Yadav today met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Although the AAP termed it as a "routine" meeting between the two leaders, the development assumes significance as the opposition parties are working on a consensus candidate.
Interestingly, the AAP was not invited in a meeting of opposition parties called by Congress president Sonia Gandhi last month.
TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also met Kejriwal last month, but both sides said the topic of a consensus presidential candidate was not discussed.
The AAP has 20 MLAs in Punjab, 66 in Delhi and four MPs in the Lok Sabha. The presidential polls will be held on July 17.
