"Following a tip-off, the police laid a trap at Yamuna bridge in Paonta Sahib and intercepted one of the vehicles and seized 706 bottles of English wine," Rameshwer Thakur, SP Sirmour said.
Driver, identified as Rohitash, resident of Panipat in Haryana was arrested.
At the same place a car on which "Government of India" was prominently written was stopped for checking and 697 bottles of English wine were recovered, the SP said.
Occupants of the vehicle Anil Kumar resident of Naglod in Punjab and Virender Singh resident of Barada village of Jind failed to produce any permit to carry such huge quantity of wine. Both persons were taken in to custody on the spot.
