A dust storm accompanied by light rains swept the national capital after days of oppressive heat.
An official at the Delhi airport said more than 20 flights to the airport were diverted, including at least two international ones, and many were delayed in the wake of adverse weather conditions.
The diversions and delays mostly happened during the period between 1500 to 1900 hours, the official said.
Around eight flights were diverted between 2015 hours and 2130 hours, he added.
Among others, a Saudia flight from Riyadh was diverted to Ahmedabad and an AirArabia flight from Sharjah was diverted to Jaipur.
The Safdarjung observatory recorded 6.2 mm rainfall and the weather station at Palam recorded rainfall of 5.8 mm till 8.30 PM.
Meanwhile, the areas under Lodhi Road, Ayanagar and Ridge observatories recorded showers measuring 0.8mm, 0.3mm and 1.4 mm respectively till 5.30 PM.
The Met Office has forecast rains for tomorrow as well.
