Over 40 lakh tourists visited Goa in 2014-15: Minister

Goa government today informed the Legislative Assembly that the number of domestic and foreign tourists arriving in the state has been increasing annually, with the figure crossing 40 lakh mark in the year 2014-15.
As per the figures tabled on the floor of the House by state Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar, 40,99,948 tourists arrived in Goa from March 2014-February 2015.
Of these, 5.05 lakh were foreign travellers while 35 lakh visitors were Indians.
This footfall is more compared to March 2013-February 2014 when 31.62 lakh tourists arrived in the coastal state, which included 5.01 lakh foreigners.
The year earlier March 2012-February 2013, 28.18 lakh tourists had arrived which included 4.56 lakh foreigners.

Parulekar was responding to a question raised by Congress MLA Vishwajit Rane.
