Over 400 kg of ganja being transported from Andhra Pradesh was recovered by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) here, a senior official said today.
Based on specific information, a team of NCB officials intercepted a lorry at Madhavaram toll gate yesterday and found 425 kg of the contraband packed in 14 plastic bags, NCB Zonal Director A Bruno said in a release.
Two persons have been "booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985," he said.
"Under the sections, the offenders shall be punished for imprisonment upto 20 years with fine upto Rs two lakh," he said, adding both the 'traffickers' were residents of Virudhunagar district.
The contraband was sourced from Andhra Pradesh, Bruno added.
