Over 4L houses built since 2012 for slum development: Government

The number of houses constructed was 88,351 in 2012-13; 1,05,786 in 2013-14; 1,19,987 in 2014-15 and 90,451 in 2015-16

The government has released over Rs 6,300 crore for slum development since 2012 and over 4 lakh houses have been constructed during this period, Lok Sabha was informed Wednesday.

Two central schemes -- Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) -- have together facilitated the construction of as many as 4.04 lakh houses so far between the 2012-13 and 2015-16 fiscals, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Babul Supriyo, said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

An amount of Rs 6,301.21 crore was released by the Union government cumulatively towards that end.

According to the minister, Rs 2,008.60 crore was released in 2012-13, Rs 2,409.16 crore in 2013-14, Rs 1,867.69 crore in 2014-15 and Rs 15.76 crore in 2015-16.
