"In the aftermath of the hooch tragedy that struck Unnao and Lucknow, a direction was received from the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police to the district police chief here for constituting a team to crack down on illicit liquor trade," police spokesman Mrityunjay Mishra said.
"Accordingly, a special drive was conducted which led to the seizure of 707 litres of liquor in the last 24 hours.
From the trans-Yamuna region, the arrests of 14 persons led to recovery of 202 litres while another 70 litres were recovered and five persons arrested in the trans-Ganga region, Mishra said.
Cases have been registered against the arrested accused under the Excise Act, he added.
