: Former Puducherry Home minister and AIADMK nominee in Rajbhavan Assembly segment P Kannan today said the union territory would see holistic development if the party is voted to power in the May 16 polls.
Kick-starting his poll campaign in the constituency after worshipping at a local Amman temple, Kannan, who quit Congress and joined AIADMK on February 14, told reporters there would be an integrated development if AIADMK is voted to power.
"Puducherry will witness faster development and all sections of people will be taken care of without exception', he said.
Kannan said the problem of unemployment among youth would be tackled through effective measures.
Asserting that no section of people would be left in the lurch as a detailed developmental plan would be implemented, he alleged that law and order was in a shambles in Puducherry.
He recalled how he had taken steps to bring in Goondas Act to ensure law and order and curb the activities of those indulging in unlawful activities while he was Home Minister in the 1990s
AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had recently announced the list of candidates for all 30 Assembly constituencies in Puducherry.
The party is going it solo in the polls here.
The list contains names of all five legislators who have been re-fielded in their constituencies in the coming polls.
