P J Joseph, chairman and managing director of state-owned Agriculture Insurance Company, has been appointed member (non-life) of insurance sector regulator Irdai.
The post fell vacant after M Ramaprasad retired in April last year, a statement said today.
Confirming the development, Joseph told PTI that he was yet to assume charge and his tenure would be until January 2019.
Irdai is in the process of preparing regulation relating to non-life insurance companies.
As of now, Irdai Chairman T S Vijayan is holding additional charge as member (non-life) at the Hyderabad-based regulator.
