The poetic side of artists like Jogen Chowdhury, Suhas Roy, K G Subramanyan and Somnath Hore have found expression in artworks that are part of a new exhibition here.
"Sargam", a group show underway at India Habitat Centre here feature 90 paintings that transform the essence of poetry and music into works of visual art.
"Art, music and poetry is timeless as well as ethereal. Sargam is a microcosm of the poetic genius in the field of art. We are celebrating the work of these legendary poets of the artistic world to experience the rhymes and rhythms full of expressions," says Kumar Satapriya, who has curated the show.
With artworks like Chowdhury's 'Flower Vase', Sunil Das' 'Horse and Bull' and Lalu Prasad Shaw's 'Babu And Bibi' on display, the show is an attempt to "restore the lost poetry in our lifestyle through art".
"In today's world of story, script and structure, the poet and his poetry are somewhat conspicuous by their absence. They both are like twin souls drawing energy from the same umbilical cord - a muse, an inspiration, a thought," says Satapriya.
Organised by Kolkata-based art organisation Nostalgia Colours, the exhibition is set to continue till March 6.
