The severed head of a retired civilian employee of the Pakistan Navy, Saleem Raza was found hanging on a pole on the Sohrab Goth flyover on Friday, leading to fears he was killed by militants.
The fears abounded since Sohrab Goth and its adjoining areas are reported to be infested with militants linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban and other militant outfits.
But a senior police official said today that Saleem's killing appeared to be the result of personal enmity.
"But investigations have revealed he was killed due to personal enmity."
Police said Saleem was regularly intoxicated and involved in black magic which led to his murder.
Mureed Shani who has been taken into police custody in connection with the murder said that Saleem's head was severed in order to make a spectacle.
A search operation is still underway to arrest the culprits.
