Superintendent of Police D N Patel said the youth identified himself as Mahammad Farhanbasha Abubakar, aged around 23. He is from Mehboobpura in Islamabad in Pakistan, Patel said.
Abubakar was found by a cleric of Aman mosque in Sanjognagar in Bhuj town today. To a question about his native place and identity, he wrote on a piece of paper that he was from Islamabad, Patel said.
Patel said the local agencies had started interrogation to find out how he ended up in a Bhuj mosque and central security agencies too will join them. But so far, Abubakar was communicating only through writing, he added.
Earlier this week, a Pakistani national named Himmat Gul Hussain (40), who appeared to be mentally unstable, was held by Border Security Force along the border near Khavda in Kutch district. Later a local court directed the authorities to admit him to a mental hospital.
