RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav today announced to launch a "people's agitation" against doctors charging "exorbitant" fees and other charges from Monday to solve problems of commonman.
The agitation is fixed on October 13 at Saharsa, Yadav said addressing a dharna here.
Yadav, Lok Sabha member from Madhepura, claimed that his agitation was in tune with policies and programmes of Lalu Prasad, Nitish Kumar and Jitan Ram Manjhi.
The RJD MP has criticised private doctors and nursing homes charging "exorbitant" fees and other charges and also suggested Rs 150 fee for MBBS doctors, Rs 200 for MD/MS and Rs 300 for senior and experienced practitioners.
Yadav took a vow that he and his Congress MP wife Ranjeeta Ranjan would go only to government hospitals. "In no circumstances we will go to private nursing homes," the MP of Lalu Prasad party said.
He took exception to Bihar chapter of Indian Medical Association and Bihar Health Services Association (BHSA) announcement of agitation if state government did not withdraw suspension of Superintendent of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and seven other doctors on charge of unavailability when victims of stampede were taken to PMCH.
"People will not tolerate any such agitation. Doctors shall remember oath they take to serve commonman," he said.
He came down heavily on BJP and held it responsible for trying to give communal colour to the recent tension in Chhapra and Kisanganj.
