Parcel containing silver articles seized during vehicle check

Silver articles worth of Rs three lakhs were seized by election officials from an omni bus from Chennai today at Thirukkadaiyur in the district.
The team stopped the Vedaranyam bound bus during a vehicle check and found a parcel containing 118 silver articles weighing more than five kg, officials sources said.
Inquiries with the driver revealed that the articles had been sent from Chennai to a jewellery shop at Karaikal. As there was no supporting documents for the transit the team seized the articles, they said.
