Party's shutdown call in western UP a huge success: BJP

The BJP today claimed its call for a shutdown in western Uttar Pradesh to protest the arrest of its MLAs in connection with Muzaffarnagar communal violence had evoked massive response.
A number of party's district presidents were arrested in western UP, a BJP release said adding the party-sponsored strike call received wide support from the people.
IGP (Law and order) R K Vishwakarma told PTI no untoward incident happened during the day-long bandh.
The BJP has given call for a general strike in western UP to protest the arrest of some party MLAs in connection with recent Muzaffarnagar communal flare up.
The party will also stage protest across the state tomorrow.
