Latif, known as a crusader against corruption and fixing in cricket, met with PCB officials and their legal advisors yesterday in Lahore where he handed over the documents relating to Kaneria's case to them.
"All I can say is that we have been given some material by Latif in which he has pointed out some things in the Danish Kaneria case. Our legal advisors will now examine the material closely," a PCB official told PTI.
An appeal panel also rejected his appeal against the life ban this year in June-July and asked him to pay costs of the case.
Kaneria, who played 61 Tests for his country, has now filed an appeal against his ban in a commercial court of London and is awaiting dates for the hearing.
The PCB, meanwhile, had issued a legal notice to Latif last month after he gave a statement in which he said that Annu Bhatt was a guest of the PCB in 2005 and 2006.
A well-informed source said during yesterday's meeting, Latif had told the board officials he was willing to apologise for his statement but he just wanted them to look at the Kaneria case as he felt injustice had been done to the leg-spinner.
"Latif's contention was simply that the board should study all the material and decide for themselves if Kaneria's life ban was justified," the source said.
