PCB working on releasing Whatmore: Sethi

Pakistan national team is likely to have a new head coach in place of incumbent Dav Whatmore before its full series against Sri Lanka in the UAE starting next month.
The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board's interim management committee, Najam Sethi said the PCB was working on releasing the foreign coaches employed with the national team, including head coach Whatmore and fielding coach Julian Fountain.
"The fate of the coaching staff could be decided in the next 10 to 15 days," Sethi told reporters in Abu Dhabi after Pakistan lost the ODI series to South Africa.
Australian Whatmore's two year contract ends in early next year and the Board has given broad hints that it was not interested in renewing his contract.

Pakistan media has reported that Whatmore himself has been preparing to end his contract and he's apparently in discussions with Cricket South Africa for a role there.
Pakistan will tour South Africa for a short ODI series immediately after the two teams wrap up their current series in the UAE.

Pakistan then play Sri Lanka in a full series next month, including three Tests.
Sethi said that there was a possibility of a meeting with BCCI President N Srinivasan in Bangkok to discuss a Pakistan-India series.
He also said that senior players would be utilized by the national team as long as they were fit and hinted that senior batsman Younis Khan could be a part of the ODI squad that will go to South Africa.

Younis, who was dropped from the ODI squad since last playing in South Africa early this year, has himself said that he wanted to play limited-over cricket.
Sethi also said that the team's target was the next T20 World Cup and the result of the current series was not his immediate concern.
